Privacy Policy
Vintage Football Draft is a free fan-made browser game. It works without an account, never asks for your email address, and stores as little as it can get away with: your draft in a cookie on your own device, and — only if you sign in — a Google account id and a display name. Ads keep the site free; they default to non-personalized until you say otherwise.
Your draft
The state of a draft in progress — the league and season you drew, the players you picked — lives in a signed cookie in your own browser, not in a database. Abandon the draft or let the cookie expire (after a week) and it is gone.
If you sign in
Signing in with Google is optional; it only exists for the leaderboard, achievements and the shirt collection. When you do, we store exactly two things: the opaque account id Google issues for this site, and a display name of your choosing. We do not request or receive your email address, contacts, or anything else from your Google account. Finished drafts you submit while signed in are stored with that account id so your results can follow you.
Server logs
Like almost every website, our hosting provider (Google Cloud Run) keeps standard technical request logs — IP address, browser type, requested page, timestamp — for security and debugging. They are kept for a limited period and are not used to profile you.
The site sets three cookies of its own: the draft-state cookie described above, a language cookie that remembers whether you chose English or Spanish, and a consent cookie that remembers your answer to the ads question below. None of them track you across other sites.
Ads are what keep the game free. They are served by Google AdSense. By default — and always, unless you explicitly accept — ads are non-personalized: chosen from the page you are on, not from a profile of you. If you accept personalization in the consent bar, Google may use cookies and similar technologies to show ads based on your interests; you can change your mind at any time from the same bar. Google's own use of data in advertising is described in Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
Some links on this site are affiliate links: if you follow one and buy something, the shop pays us a small commission. It costs you nothing extra, and it never changes what we link to — we point at things because they fit the game, not because of the commission. As an affiliate partner of the programs we join (which may include Amazon Associates and networks such as Awin), we are required to tell you this, and we are telling you here.
Player portraits are loaded by your browser directly from Transfermarkt's image servers, which means Transfermarkt's servers see the same standard request data any image host sees. Sign-in, when you use it, talks to Google. Ads talk to Google AdSense as described above. There is no analytics script, no social media pixel, and no tracker beyond what is listed on this page.
Under the GDPR you can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. For most visitors the honest answer is that we hold nothing — the draft cookie lives in your browser and clearing it is deletion. If you signed in and want your account id, display name and submitted results removed, contact us and we will delete them.
